Manager of Design Engineering
Responsible for engineering of all wayside products (microprocessor-based systems (vital and non-vital), track circuits (DC, Audio Frequency), PC based computer-aided application tools, and PC based office systems.  Involved in company strategy and development of the "Quality to Market" development process.  Major developments included:

  • Wayside speed detection for NYCTA utilizing axle counters and microprocessor-based wayside system.
  • Development of microprocerssor-based interface to audio frequency track circuits for BART.
  • Led cross-functional team to improve Application Engineering processes.  Results included PC-based Interlocking Logic simulator, and automate ring-out tester for wayside cases.

Consulting Research Engineer

Developed new solutions to problems by using advanced technology (as part of Advanced Engineering Department) primarily related to use of microprocessors in vital applications.  Major projects included:

Concept and Development of a radio-based signaling system for freight railroads using wayside and on-board microprocessor systems.
Led independent review of L.A. bus control systems, primarily the radio communications.

Senior Design Engineer
Performed detailed design of new products including hardware and software.  Major projects included:

  • Design and Development of a vital microprocessor-based DC track circuit and track communication system.
  • Design and Development of audio frequency track circuits for MARTA.
  • Design and Development of Radio Remote Control system for locomotives.
